Legends Vs Raphoe

This weekend we host Raphoe at Deramore push back at 4pm. We travelled to Raphoe only a couple of weeks ago so we know what to expect. They are an experienced team who we were lucky to get past with an uncharacteristically poor performance. The team selected is;

Russ, Burgess, Tweed, Pete, Neil, Simon, Tim, Eddie, Pete, Gerry, Harper and Larmour

I want everyone to meet at 3.15 so that we can get a good warm up!

Raphoe were good enough to lay on some food after the game and as per usual we will be returning the favour. I want everyone to hang about after the game for a bit of banter and to mix with the Raphoe lads. Some people have already agreed to help out by making sandwiches please see the forums to see what you can do to help.

Quins 3rds vs Park View 2nds

This week we host Park View 2nds at our Twinbrook pitch. After last weeks massive disappointment theres been a few changes made to the team. The bottom line is you dont concede 6 goals and if you score three you should be taking all 2 points so changes were nessecary. (no pressure) The push back is scheduled for 1pm so I want everyone there at 12.15 if you need a lift let me know. The new look team is.....

Garvey 4ths Vs Quins 3rds Push Back 4pm

After last weeks great but flattering result against Cookstown we face what I believe will be an even tougher test this week away to Garvey. This team came up from J5 last year but won every single game on the way. Also we are not used to the water base which is a lot faster and quite bouncy. The push back is scheduled for 4pm so I suggest we met at Garvey at 3.30pm. The team selected for this match is

Connor Whinning, Colin Burgess, Peter Kelly, Alan Smith, John Mitchell, Simon Harper, Adam Tweed, Johnny Frazer, Gerry Hamill, Mike Ferguson, Chris Larmour, PG.

There are a few changes there from last week but I believe theres more than enough quality to get another result.

Selection for Friendly Vs Service

Good work to all who made training last night lets try and keep the numbers up and we will all benifit. Following training I consulted with the manager and we picked a team for Saturdays friendly against NICS.

GK - Russ, Connor

Defence - John Mitchell, Shave Hill, Richard McClure, Peter Kelly, Alan Smith , Colin Burgess

Midfield- Simon Murray, Tim Cooke, Paul Scott, Rory Porter, Dan Culbert

Attack - Gerry Hamill , Connor Montgomery, Simon Harper, Eddie Baird

Meeting at 1.30 for a 2.30 push back, bar is compulsary for at least a pint after. If you have not been selected for this match dont worry theres still another game to come before the season starts. I was impressed with a number of players at training and its all subject to change.

Friendly Quins 3rds vs NICS

Our second friendly of this pre season sees the new look 3rds take on NICS at Deramore this Saturday 23rd August with the push back at 2.30pm. Our last friendly went very well and I would like to thank Inst for playing especially the extra long 25min quarters. It gave Robin and myself the opportunity to see a lot of new players and a few we were already familiar with in different positions. It looked good and we were very impressed with a number of the new faces, the squad for this match will be smaller as we try to find out starting XI for the start of the season. I will post the team for saturday here after training 2moro.

Pre Season, Legends Vs Inst

Well I am very happy to announce our first pre season game will be taking place this weekend at fortress Deramore and inst will be providing the opposition. Due to a long summer off and so I can see as many players as possible we are going to play this in 3 20min periods. If your selected meet at 12 for a 1pm push back dont be late as there will be a few new faces. The squad selected for this match is,

Season 08/09

I am glad to announce that for the upcoming season Russler and myself will be taking on the captaincy of Quins 3rds. Last year the Legends had their first taste of defeat and I am determined to make sure it doesnt happen again. Next season I intend to put us back to winning ways! It wont be easy and I see this as the biggest challenge to date. I want to get the ball rolling early so will be looking to bring in some fresh faces and organise a few friendlies.

Every Tuesday night there is some mixed hockey up at Deramore starting at 7pm bring £2, its a good way to get yourself ready for the new season.

Summer Hockey

All this summer there will be mixed hockey happening up at Fortress Deramore every Tuesday and Thursday night. It is open to anyone and we would like to encourage anyone who is thinking of playing next season. Its just a light hearted mess around and a good way to get to know everyone. I will post up more details when I get them.

Anyone who is thinking of joining the new revamped Legends side leave a message in the forums or just private msg me. The more the merrier.

Unfortunate End To a Bad Season

This season has seen many changes for all the Legends whether they stayed with Bangor or moved onto pastures new. I am sure I speak for us all when I say what a pity it was to see the mighty 5's relegated from J4. Its a real shame to see the reversal of all the good work we put into the team. I am sure a few people at the club are happy to see it tho. I don’t really want to say much more on it but I hope that the 5ths do better next year in J5.

It has also been a disappointment for those who moved to Quins this year and played with the 3rd XI. A lack or organisation and ability dogged most of our season. With the installation of a new captain after xmas however we began to turn it round and played some legend style hockey like you would expect. It was all too late however and we were relegated to J4 but the outlook for next season is bright. Another new captain and im sure plenty of new faces.

Xmas Dinner Deposits

Just a reminder that I still need most of the xmas dinner deposits so far I have only recieved 11, before the uni noobs tell me again I know im getting yours when you get home.
